SHAW HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH DANCE GROUP

PURPOSE

The dance group will explore traditional Spanish Dances, the historical and social context in which they are performed, and identify these dances by their steps, rhythm and musical style. Students will be able to perform these dances and become aware of dance etiquette, dance terminology, background, steps, style and patterns.
The Shaw High School Spanish Dance program is designed to develop a sense of pride and leadership skills while students contribute to their community through highly visible cultural performances. Students will be exposed to the movement, forms, dance history and culture inherent in Spanish Folk Dance.
